Cllr Len Gregory, Cabinet Member for Transport and Street Services, will 'cut the sod' to begin installation of safety improvements at a road junction in Kings Heath.

Works to install new traffic lights and pedestrian crossings at a road junction in Kings Heath is set to begin this week.

New traffic lights, crossings and road markings are all to be installed on the junction between the A435 Alcester Road South, Howard Road East and Howard Road in an £88,000 scheme funded by Birmingham City Council.

Work is expected to take up to eight weeks with the roads remaining open throughout.  Any work which may obstruct the highway itself will be carried out between 7pm and 7am.

Cllr Gregory said: “This work will dramatically improve the safety and general flow of cars and people around this junction, making the whole area a more pleasant and safer environment.

Will the new traffic lights have an advanced stop line each side for cyclists turning left? It would seem an ideal time to put one in.
