Cllr Len Gregory, Birmingham City Council Cabinet Member for Transportation and Street Services, will officially cut the turf to begin construction work on the main phase of a new £63 million infrastructure which will enable a major regeneration of Selly Oak town centre as well as providing access to the new Selly Oak Hospital, and directly creating 150 jobs.

Construction work will begin this Thursday on the main phase of the £63million infrastructure investment in Selly Oak, with a by-pass being built around Selly Oak town centre, through which the existing A38 Bristol Road runs, easing congestion to the retail centre, while allowing for the wider redevelopment of adjoining land.

150 jobs will be created as a direct result of the construction, while enabling wider regeneration of the local area which will eventually see a further 1000 employment opportunities created and 1700 new homes built.
