Sign up for 2016 garden waste service earlybird offer

Anyone wishing to have their garden waste collected in a clean and convenient way can subscribe to Birmingham City Council’s 2016 service from today (December 1).

The annual subscription charge is unchanged from this year at £35 for 20 fortnightly collections from February to November – with an earlybird discount of £5 for all orders made during December, reducing the cost to just £30.

As standard, subscribers will use a 240 litre bin with a brown lid. Residents can make multiple orders if they need more than one bin for their garden waste. In a further change for 2016, only households whose properties have been assessed as unsuitable for wheelie bins will be eligible for an alternative sack collection (brown sacks for 2016).

Collections of garden waste will continue to take place on the same day as rubbish collections, but in the alternate week to general recycling collections.

Those who miss out on the earlybird will be able to obtain a £2 discount if they order via the council website from January 1 onwards, bringing the price down to £33.

If an existing customer’s subscription is not renewed, their garden waste will not be collected and the council will make arrangements to retrieve wheelie bins from their property.

Subscriptions can be made through the council’s website at www.birmingham.gov.uk/gardenwaste or by calling the contact centre on 0121 303 1112. Payment can only be made by debit/credit card and telephone lines may be busy during peak hours.
