Sport and physical activity service review

By on 26/11/2013 in Service Reviews

The aims of the review are to ensure a strategic spread of facilities and services across the city in the future, as well as meeting the budget pressures and reductions. A transformation approach was signalled, with the strategy acknowledging the context to date of the service provision, as well as the strategic requirements for it for the future.

Districts were asked to formulate proposals in line with the revised strategy for Sport and Physical Activity. The revised strategy included principles of targeting the most disadvantaged communities with the new opportunities in order to tackle health inequalities, as well as building on aspirations around sport villages, elite pathways and services and facilities designed to maximise footfall and efficiencies within those target communities.
