Statement by Birmingham City Council

The city council can confirm that Mark Rogers will be taking early retirement from the organisation with effect from 28 February 2017.

We expect an interim chief executive will be in post shortly afterwards and have begun the search process.

The recruitment process for a permanent chief executive will also commence shortly, with the successful candidate to take office as soon as is practicably possible.

From 1 March, Angela Probert, Strategic Director for Change and Support Services, will act up. Consequently, Chris Gibbs will join the corporate leadership team (CLT), covering Mrs Probert’s role.

In the meantime, the immediate focus of Cabinet and CLT is to continue to implement the Future Operating Model and deliver a balanced budget for 2017/18.
