Statement on Unison ballot

By on 21/06/2011 in News

A statement has been issued in response to today’s news that members of Unison from Birmingham City Council have voted in favour of industrial action in relation to the new Birmingham Contract.

Cllr Alan Rudge, Cabinet Member for Equalities and Human Resources at Birmingham City Council, said: “Industrial action is always regrettable. Contingencies will be put in place to ensure as far as is possible that essential front line services operate as usual when the need arises.

“However, until we receive formal notification from the union, we are unable to make any further statement at this stage.”

18:00 UPDATE: The council has now received formal notification from the union but no date has been specified for industrial action. Any further media response from the council will be available first on this website.
