Summer opening hours for Household Recycling Centres

in News with 0 Comments

Residents of Birmingham are being reminded that household refuse and recycling collection services will operate as usual over the Easter weekend.

This means - as is the case every year – collections will take place on Good Friday and Easter Monday for anyone with scheduled collections on those two days.

For anyone using the long weekend as a chance to have a tidy up in and around their home, the city’s five Household Recycling Centres will begin their summer season of extended opening hours.

From Friday 3 April to Saturday 31 October, three of the HRCs will be open as follows:

7 days per week (8am - 8pm)

- Lifford Lane, Kings Norton, B30 3JJ
- Holford Drive, Perry Barr, B42 2TU
- James Road, Tyseley, B11 2BA

The other two HRCs will be open as follows from Friday 3 April to Saturday 31 October :

Weekdays (8am - 8pm) and Weekends (8am - 4.30pm)

- Tameside Drive, Castle Bromwich, B35 7AG
- Norris Way, Sutton Coldfield, B75 7BB

Note: Winter opening hours at all five sites (for the remainder of the year) are normally 8am – 6pm on weekdays and 8am – 4.30pm weekends.

During April and May the council be introducing more changes to the HRCs to make it easier to access the sites – such as increased areas for garden waste recycling and the ability to “view the queue” online.

Given this is the time of year people traditionally begin work on their gardens and DIY projects around the home, there can sometimes be busy periods at the HRCs. We would encourage visitors to take their unwanted items and waste during the normally quieter times and by utilising the extended opening hours, as above:

- Tuesday to Thursday
- Before 10am and after 3pm weekdays
