A discovery that will redefine the Dark Ages is to be unveiled at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery tomorrow (Sept 24)

The Staffordshire Hoard is a stunning find of Anglo-Saxon gold discovered earlier this year. It is the largest such hoard ever found and of international importance.

It will be presented for the first time during a press conference at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery tomorrow (Sep 24) at 11.30am.

Experts will be on-hand to talk about the discovery and how it will help rewrite history. Important pieces of treasure will be on show and available to photograph.

Artefacts from the Hoard will be on display at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery from Friday September 25.

Members of the media are invited to attend the press conference in the AV Room at the Museum and Art Gallery at 11.30am. If anyone has special requirements (sat trucks etc) please call Carmel Girling at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery on 0121 303 2923.

Well done to the finder for doing everything that has been required. This can only help our hobby & the finder whoever he/she is deserves a big pat on the back.
This is good news not only for the lucky finder but for the detecting community as a whole, please take note all you anti detecting parties out there!

I am so pleased to hear that the finder and the land owner will be the ones to profit from this find. Some public organizations probably feel that it is theirs by right, but I disagree and am glad to see that the authorities there do as well!
