A groundbreaking new website helping people find the right adult social care services is already proving to be a hit in Birmingham.

Aimed at both people who require care and their carers, www.mycareinbirmingham.org.uk offers a wide range of information, advice and support.

The website also incorporates a marketplace section promoting adult social care services and equipment with links to providers.

And residents who have already used the service have given the new website, the first of its kind in the UK, a huge thumbs-up.

Mansoor Hussain, 32, from Edgbaston added: “The website is user-friendly and well presented. Once you highlighted the right choices, you get the information you need which is great.”

Cllr Steve Bedser, Cabinet Member for Health and Wellbeing, added: “The early feedback has been extremely positive and we believe this website offers a faster and more effective way for people to access information and services at any time.

“We want to help people obtain specific advice, information, equipment and access to services they, or the people they are caring for need.

“In addition to this, the site will provide details of adult social care services and support; from helping people to remain safely independent at home for longer, and getting out and about.”

Peter Hay, Strategic Director for Adults and Communities, said: “Providing information and advice at a time and a place that suits all adults in Birmingham is part of our core offer.

“My Care in Birmingham is about enabling adults and those that provide informal care for adults across the city to be able to quickly access accurate information and support that can help people to stay independent in a setting that is comfortable and safe to them.”

Over 500 individuals and organisations offering adult social care support have already registered on the Marketplace section of My Care in Birmingham, offering services from free advice to paid-for equipment.
