Unveiled – 'The Botanical Bull’

BBC Gardeners' World Live, featuring RHS Flower Show Birmingham, and Birmingham City Council have unveiled their design and creation “The Botanical Bull” at Bullring, Birmingham.

June will see the 21st BBC Gardeners' World Live featuring RHS Flower Show Birmingham and to celebrate, the organisers teamed up with recent Chelsea Gold Medal Award Winner, Birmingham City Council, to create some horticultural excellence in the city centre. With a long standing tradition of bringing impressive floral displays to the Midlands they wanted to bring a taster of the show to one of Birmingham's most iconic landmarks, the Bull at Bullring.

Head of Parks for Birmingham City Council, Darren Share, said: “The team behind Birmingham's Chelsea entry was inspired by the new Library of Birmingham and some of our best-loved local writers to create a beautiful Gold Medal winning display.

“Working with BBC Gardeners' World Live and the Bullring, we've been given the opportunity to put our floral stamp on another local icon - Birmingham's Bull - which we hope will be a source of great enjoyment for local people and visitors alike.”

Gemma Lake, RHS Assistant Shows Manager RHS Flower Show Birmingham said: “This is the first time we have florally dressed an area in Birmingham ahead of BBC Gardeners' World Live and what better subject to dress than the iconic statue of the Bull outside Bullring!

“Idyllic flower bedding has created this beautiful mini garden in the middle of the Bullring awakening the senses from our cold slumber. This colour explosion is sure to grab summer by the horns and drag it to Birmingham.
Tim Walley, General Manager at Bullring added: “The Bull is one of the city's most loved icons and is one of the most photographed landmarks in the UK. Last year he was recreated in flowers in Birmingham City Council's award-winning garden so we felt that this summer he should definitely embrace his floral side with this beautiful display.”

Visitors to Bullring can see “The Botanical Bull” from now until 9th June at Rotunda Square.
