Cllr Sir Albert Bore

Leader of Birmingham City Council, Sir Albert Bore today launched the city's new vision for Sport and Physical Activity - calling for 'a city of sporting participation and excellence'

The vision is built around three key priorities to ensure the city reaps the maximum rewards from sport and physical activity:

  1. Promote health and develop the prosperity of our citizens through removing the barriers to sport and physical activity, especially those currently inactive and from the most deprived communities.
  2. Develop high quality facilities for national and international events as well as effectively manage and refurbish some existing leisure and sport facilities across the city, to meet current and future needs of residents.
  3. Support and coordinate an excellence pathway from participation of the inactive through to elite participation, working with national governing bodies of sport.
