Waste collection update - July 4
The following is an updated statement from Jacqui Kennedy, Corporate Director for Place, after yesterday’s industrial action by some members of the refuse collection service:
“Our proposals are all about improving services for the people of Birmingham – with no job losses.
“In fact, we’re creating up to 246 full-time permanent roles and that will lead to better-trained staff that better understand Birmingham and want the best for our city.
“We need a high quality service week in, week out for people across Birmingham and we will ensure value for money. We’re also addressing the fact that a third of our workforce is currently agency staff.”
