BIIP Documents

On 21 March 2016, the Birmingham Independent Improvement Panel (BIIP) submitted its final progress report to the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, Greg Clark. As part of the process for assessing the council’s progress, the panel asked the council to prepare a self-assessment of progress against key themes in the council’s improvement plan, described as a “gap analysis”.

You can read the full analysis and a summary here:

The gap analysis also draws on two specific pieces of research that the council commissioned:

A University of Birmingham report Exploring Relationships between Partners, Officers and Elected Members in Birmingham City Council, based on interviews that took place between October and December 2015

The Local Government Association (LGA) was invited to undertake a Peer Review of Birmingham City Council’s communications function. The review took place between October 2015 and February 2016. The LGA’s findings and recommendations were agreed by the council’s Corporate Leadership Team (CLT) in February.
