Rogue traders jailed for targeting OAPs in mobility firm fraud

Two men who ran a Birmingham-based mobility firm have been jailed for a total of nine-and-a-half years for fraud at Birmingham Crown Court today (5 November 2015).

Birmingham City Council’s Trading Standards team and West Midlands Police launched an investigation into Frank Walters and Mark Murphy, the owner and sales manager respectively, of a firm called Gemini Healthcare, based in Brigfield Road, Yardley Wood.

Walters, 54, of Brigfield Road, Yardley Wood, was jailed for four years, and Murphy, 53, whose last known address is in Wilford, Nottinghamshire, was sentenced to five-and-a-half years, for defrauding elderly customers – including a 92-year-old with advanced Alzheimer’s – of hundreds of pounds.
