Birmingham scoops Gold with Heart of England Awards

Birmingham has scooped another Gold at the Heart of England in Bloom awards in the Large City category today (Thursday 10 September).

It follows last year’s win which has secured a place in the UK finals of Bloom this year, representing Heart of England in Bloom.

Deputy Leader for Birmingham City Council Cllr Ian Ward said: “I congratulate our fantastic Parks team for scooping yet another Gold and I wish them all the very best of luck at the national finals in October.

“Heart of England in Bloom gives Birmingham an opportunity to show off the wealth of floral displays across the city alongside our parks and it is wonderful to be repeatedly recognised for the work carried out by our staff and network of volunteers.”

 

In addition there were discretionary awards  –

  • Community Achievement for Civic Close
  • Horticultural Excellence for Cannon Hill Park
  • Landscape Award for Library of Birmingham
  • Services to Heart of England in Bloom for Head of Parks, Darren Share

And Merit Awards  -

  • Wayne Dixon for Sarehole Mill
  • Ali H Abdulla for Guinea Gardens

Acocks Green also won a Gold in Urban Community and Moseley got a Gold and joint category winner.
