People in Birmingham have just a week left to ensure they have a voice in May’s elections.
Anyone wishing to vote must first be registered to do so – and the deadline for registration is 20 April 2015.
After this date, anyone who has not registered will not be able to vote on 7 May, meaning they cannot have a say in the democratic process.
Registering online is just one of the improvements being made to the electoral registration system nationwide. The new, more secure system of registration was introduced last year to replace the old Victorian system where the “head of household” registered everyone living in a property. Now, each individual will be responsible for registering themselves.
Anyone who has not yet registered to vote can do so online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.
