Green Bridge grants for growing business

Cllr Tahir Ali

Cabinet will be asked to approve further support for growing business across the region when the Full Business Case for the Green Bridge Supply Chain Programme is presented on 20 January.

Cabinet member for Development, Jobs and Skills, Cllr Tahir Ali, said: “Following the success of last year's programme, which is forecast to create 1,301 new jobs and safeguard a further 700, I am pleased to announce that the Green Bridge Supply Chain Programme has been offered £7.5m from the European Regional Development Fund to support Small and Medium Enterprise (SMEs) across the West Midlands in their transition to the 'Green Economy'.

“This will make a huge difference to the local and regional economy, creating new jobs and supporting vital green business initiatives such as renewable energy sources and energy efficiency measures.”

Grants of £10k to £173k will be available, dependent on SME match funding of 50% of the total project cost as a condition of grant funding.  The grants will be available for business capital investment, new product development and coaching, mentoring and consultancy.

SMEs can apply for grants from 10 February until 7 March and the first awards will be made on 16 April.
