Josh shows he’s all Hart!

geoff-coleman_04Media officer Geoff Coleman reflects on a fantastic offer as we bid to further develop this website.

When we launched www.birminghamnewsroom.com at the end of June we were unsure what the response was going to be. But we hoped the overall reaction would be positive and encouraging and we have not been disappointed.

A meeting with Birmingham-based web consultant and developer Josh Hart earlier today underlined that fantastic support.

As Head of News Deborah Harries conceded at the time of launch, this website is far from the finished article and the idea is that the online newsroom will continue to develop and evolve.

One issue to be addressed is cross-browser compatibility. We want the online newsroom to be accessible to as many people as possible – journalists, bloggers and residents alike. We don’t want to favour pc users over Mac aficionados or vice-versa and we are aware that the site currently has a number of issues on some browsers

To that end I’ve just returned from a fantastic meeting with Josh (livebrum.co.uk, digitalbrum.co.uk and artbrum.co.uk)

Now, as the social media community in Birmingham will certainly be aware, Josh knows his stuff. He is also passionate about this city and is keen to help www.birminghamnewsroom.com succeed. So much so that he has volunteered valuable time to help us iron out some of the glitches currently being experienced.

Josh’s encouragement and enthusiasm are quite humbling and underline the fantastic spirit amongst the online community here in Birmingham.

As grand as it may sound (and that’s not the intention) he wants to help us further develop the website because he sees it as a valuable resource for the whole of Birmingham and his generous offer has been gratefully received.

So watch this space for improvements and thanks to everyone who is following the site.

We really do appreciate the feedback. So please keep sending your comments – positive and negative. We want future enhancements to reflect the needs of our audience.
