The Queen's Baton Relay (QBR) comes to Birmingham on 2 June during its two week journey across England, drumming up support for Team England, celebrating sport as it goes and marking the countdown to the Commonwealth Games which start in Glasgow on 23 July.  Baton Bearer Pritesh Pattni coaches Badminton to young people in Aston and Baton Bearer Mimi Cesar is a rhythmic gymnast who is up for selection for this year's Commonwealth Games.

Lord Mayor, Cllr Mike Leddy, said: “It gives me great pleasure to officially raise Birmingham's Commonwealth Flag and meet some of Birmingham's Baton Bearers ahead of the Queen's Baton Relay's arrival in Birmingham on 2 June.  By the time the Queen's Baton Relay arrives in England the Baton will have visited 68 nations and territories.  It is a tremendous honour that Birmingham was selected to host the Relay during the last international leg before the Baton enters Scotland for the XX Commonwealth Games.”
