Travel advice during repairs to Aston Expressway

Essential maintenance to the M6 J6 and A38(M) will be resuming later this month. Highways England hope to have completed the work by Christmas 2016.

Delaying the repair programme would mean that road surfaces would continue to deteriorate leading to unscheduled disruption and severe impact on traffic in and around Birmingham.

The programme has been designed to minimise disruption to the travelling public: full road closures will take place overnight and during weekends in the summer holidays, when there is significantly less traffic.

Diversions will be in place, but we strongly recommend drivers consider switching to public transport where possible.

The first changes will come into operation from Monday 27 June, with overnight closures of the A38(M) Aston Expressway out of city carriageway. From Friday 1 July, a number of junction, carriageway and speed restrictions will come into effect.

Full details of the works are available on the Highways England website.
