Motorists reminded of traffic diversions

in News

Birmingham City Council is advising motorists to plan their journeys around a set of temporary traffic measures due to come into operation in the city centre.

From Saturday evening (January 17), a section of Parade/Sand Pits will be closed to all vehicles travelling out of the city with a diversion in place via Cambridge Street.  There will be reduced lanes for all vehicles travelling into the city.

Also from Saturday evening (January 17), Broad Street/Bridge Street/Holliday Street will be subject to temporary overnight traffic closures with diversions.  Lane restrictions will apply on traffic into the city on a section of Broad Street from its junction with Bridge Street.

The road restrictions are being put in place to enable the first phase of the £500 million Paradise development including the demolition of existing buildings on the site.

Further road access changes involving Broad Street will be introduced later in January.

Motorists are advised to expect significant disruption, plan their journeys carefully and consider using public transport, walk or cycle whenever possible.
