Queen’s Award for community sports hub

A voluntary group from Birmingham which manages the Holford Drive Community Sports Hub has had its work recognised with the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service - the highest award a voluntary group can receive in the UK.

Councillor Ian Ward, Deputy Leader of Birmingham City Council, said: “This is fantastic news for Holford Drive Community Sports Hub and further evidence, as if any were needed, of the truly ground-breaking work it does for the benefit of the community.

“I would like to offer my congratulations to everyone involved and pay tribute to all those who volunteer their time to make a real difference to the lives of so many. This award shows what can be achieved when like-minded communities work together to achieve a common goal.”
