How do we tackle fly-tipping?

in News with 0 Comments

Abandoning (flytipping) rubbish is illegal and can lead to a fine of up to £50,000 along with imprisonment. Offenders face an unlimited fine and up to five years imprisonment if convicted in a Crown Court.

We investigate dumped rubbish and can serve a legal notice to landowners to clear rubbish that attracts or harbours vermin. Where we have sufficient evidence we will prosecute fly-tippers.

We will collect:

  • Dumped rubbish from the public highway or pavement – within two working days
  • Dumped rubbish from recycling sites – within one working day;

If a you feel the rubbish is a health hazard, for example, if its attracting vermin or smelling badly, or you know who has dumped the rubbish click here to report the dumped rubbish.
