Syrian refugees - March 2016 update

Birmingham City Council welcomed its fourth group of refugees under the Syrian Vulnerable Persons Relocation scheme today (March 22).

One family of six (four adults and two children) has arrived in the city, following earlier groups in December 2015 and January and February of this year.

This means just six are still to come to Birmingham, as per the cross-party pledge to offer shelter to 50 individuals, which was agreed at a city council meeting in September 2015.

Refugee Action, an organisation with a long history of supporting refugees in the UK, will once again be helping to integrate the new arrivals into their new homes in Birmingham, as was the case with the three previous groups.

Further updates will be made available on the remaining arrivals as and when firm details are known.
