Mayfield School at market

Pupils from Mayfield School, Lozells, have enjoyed free rides at the Birmingham Frankfurt Christmas Market today (December 4).

The lucky youngsters are among hundreds of children from special schools across Birmingham enjoying free rides on the carousel in Victoria Square, courtesy of Bob Wilson’s Funfairs.

The carousel in Victoria Square is complemented by a big wheel and ice rink in Centenary Square, next to the Birmingham Christmas Craft Market.

Open between 10am and 9pm every day until Tuesday, 22 December, the markets span approximately a mile through the city centre, including Victoria and Centenary Squares, as well as New Street. Last year the markets drew 5.5 million visitors from across the UK and abroad, including Germany.

The ice rink and big wheel will both continue until Sunday, 10 January, 2016, from 10am to 9pm. Ice rink sessions last an hour and are on the hour, with tickets available from www.iceskatebirmingham.co.uk.
