Lord Mayor's Mega Quiz Launch

Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Cllr Shafique Shah, joined members of the Lord Mayor's Mega Quiz Committee and sponsors this morning to launch this year's fundraising Mega Quiz and Sixth Form Mega Quiz.

The Lord Mayor's Mega Quiz returns to Birmingham University's Great Hall on Thursday 20 November at 7pm for another fun-filled night of trivia, brain teasers and mind-stretching questions with Quizmaster, Pete Morgan of BBC Radio WM.

And this year's teams will be competing for the Lord Mayor's Mega Quiz Trophy plus a night at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole for the entire winning team and their guests.

Lord Mayor Cllr Shafique Shah said: “I really hope people will get together with their friends, family and work mates to support what is always a great night out.  Why not ask people in your local pub, gym or social club if they'd like to join you in a team of six?  You'll all get to know each other, have fun and support some fantastic local charities in the process.  Last year's winners are from Wales so Brummies have something to prove!”

Alongside the Mega Quiz, sixth-formers are invited to take part in the third Sixth Form Mega Quiz.  The sixth form quiz starts at 1pm in the Great Hall and students will compete for a range of prizes, including a prize for the best team mascot.

The deadline for entries is Thursday 13 November and the entry fee, for a team of up to six people, is £36. The entry fee for the Sixth Form Mega Quiz is £35 for a team of up to six, maximum of three teams per school/sixth form college.

All proceeds from the quizzes will go to the Lord Mayor's charities.  This year they are: Birmingham Children's Hospital, Focus Birmingham, SIFA Fireside and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity.
