Offer of reception class places 2014 - offers as at 16 April 2014

Birmingham Pupils

  • 15,358 parent/carers submitted an application requesting a Reception Class place for their child for September 2014 prior to the closing date of 15 Jan 2014 (up 347)
  • 31,491 preferences were expressed (down 1,660)
  • 11,741 (77%) applications were made on-line* (up 7.6%)
  • 13,355 (86.9%) pupils were offered their first preferred school (up 1.3%)
  • 979 (6.4%) pupils were offered their second preferred school (down 1%)
  • 337 (2.2%) pupils were offered their third preferred school (down 0.6%)
  • 14,671 (95.5%) pupils were offered one of their preferred schools (down 0.3%)
  • 687 (4.5%) were offered a school that was not one of their preferences (up 0.3%)
  • 1,060 parent/carers submitted an application for a school outside of Birmingham.
  • Of the 1,060, 498 (3.2%) pupils were offered a school outside Birmingham (down 0.2%)
  • * 114 children with a Statement of Educational Need cannot apply on-line

Non-Birmingham Pupils

  • 334 parent/carers who live in another local authority applied for a place at a Birmingham school for their child for September 2014 (down 36)
  • 459 preferences were expressed (down 54)
  • 139 (41.6%) pupils were offered their first preferred school (up 0.2%)
  • 14 (4.2%) pupils were offered their second preferred school (up 2.3%)
  • 4 (1.2%) pupils were offered their third preferred school (down 1%)
  • 1 (0.3%) pupil was offered his/her fourth preferred school (no change)
  • Of the 334 applications, 158 (47.3%) pupils who live in another local authority were offered a Birmingham school (up 1.5%)
