Secondary school intake - offers as at March 2016
Today is national day of offer of secondary school places. Birmingham City Council’s school admissions and pupil placements team has offered advice and guidance to parents/carers and pupils and has processed over 15,000 applications for secondary school places
Birmingham Pupils
14,775 Birmingham pupils applied to transfer to secondary school
58,380 preferences were expressed
11,900 (85.7%) applications were made on-line*
10,220 (69.2%) were offered their first preferred school
1,850 (12.5%) were offered their second preferred school
912 (6.2%) were offered their third preferred school
438 (3%) were offered their fourth preferred school
219 (1.5%) were offered their fifth preferred school
157 (1%) were offered their sixth preferred school
13,796 (93.4%) were offered one of their preferred schools
979 (6.6%) were offered a school that was not one of their preferences
1,608 (10.9%) were offered a school outside Birmingham
*468 SEN pupils and 396 late applicants cannot apply online
Extra District Pupils
1,889 pupils who live in another local authority applied for a place at a Birmingham school
3,500 preferences were expressed
454 (24%) were offered their first preferred school
85 (4.5%) were offered their second preferred school
53 (2.8%) were offered their third preferred school
26 (1.3%) were offered their fourth preferred school
3 (0.2%) were offered their fifth preferred school
5 (0.3%) were offered their sixth preferred school
626 (33.1%) pupils who live in another local authority who applied for a Birmingham school were offered a Birmingham school
