Syrian refugees - May 2016 update

Birmingham City Council welcomed two female refugees under the Syrian Vulnerable Persons Relocation scheme today (May 11).

They take the total to have arrived in Birmingham up to 46 since December 2015.

This means just four are still to come to Birmingham, as per the cross-party pledge to offer shelter to 50 individuals, which was agreed at a city council meeting in September 2015.

Refugee Action, an organisation with a long history of supporting refugees in the UK, will once again be helping to integrate the new arrivals into their new homes in Birmingham, as was the case with the previous groups.

Further updates will be made available on the remaining arrivals as and when firm details are known.
